Martin Grubinger: Percussive Planet

Director: Paul Fenkart
Distributor: BFMI
© 2010, a BFMI production
16:9 shot in HD | stereo
Length: approx. 60 min.Martin Grubinger is one of the world’s most sought-after multipercussion
artists. In this film, he is provided with a flight ticket around the world
to meet other outstanding percussionists on different continents like:
Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez - Kuba
Hakim Ludin – Afghanistan
Ralph Hardimon - USA
Mamadou Diabaté - Burkina Faso
Kodo – Japan
It is a journey of discovery: making music together and learning from
each other. But: Martin Grubinger is not allowed to bring his own drum kit
with him; the only things he travels with are a set of sticks and some
clothes to change. He spends one week with every artist and within this time
span, he will not only explore the specific percussion traditions, but also
discover life and culture of the different countries. Unexprected things
might happen, only the groove is for sure. |
